Congratulations to all Year 7-9 students that attended the recent Junior interhouse swimming carnivals at the Pines Pool in Frankston. It was great to see the large numbers of students taking up the opportunity to represent their respective House groups. Many thanks to the numerous staff and parents that added to the success of the days.
Congratulations to SEBASTIAN (Mornington), ANTHONY( Rosebud) and DOYLE (Tyabb) on their respective wins.
The Year 10-12 interhouse carnival and the Year 7-9 intercampus swimming trials will take place on Thursday 19 March at the Pines Pool in Frankston.
Many students across the College have been taking up the opportunity to attend the early morning training sessions offered by all three campuses. This is a great way to start the day and get to know other students at Padua. All abilities are catered for.
Contact your Sports Co-ordinator for specific locations and times.
The annual swimming camp will take place 11-13 March.
The camp provides students with great opportunity to undertake an intensive period of training and to meet other students across all three campuses who are interested in improving their swimming. Acceptance letters have been distributed via CareMonkey to over over 65 students. Contact your Sports Co-ordinator if you require further information.
It has been pleasing to see students training together to represent the College in a number of sports in the intermediate and senior SIS weekly sports competition.
Sports this term include basketball, indoor cricket, volleyball, handball and soccer.
Fixtures, scores and ladders can be accessed at www.sis.org.au
Many thanks to the staff that give up their valuable time to coach these teams.
On your marks, get set… it’s less than three weeks till the Sufferfest Triathlon. Over 50 students from across all three campuses have been learning everything they need to know about swim, bike and run before putting it all together for the Safety Beach Sufferfest Triathlon which takes place Sunday 22 March.
The Rosebud Campus has had a very busy start to 2020. Our usual sports week starts off with Monday morning swim training and triathlon swim training. Later in the week we have bike and run triathlon training sessions and before school on a Thursday we have cross-country training. A large number of students have attended all sessions, and there are also some students in the surf league team and sailing team. A couple of students competed in an interschool equestrian event and in the first round of the interschool state surfing competition. To finish off the term, we look forward to holding a basketball lunchtime competition.
The Tyabb Campus has seen the Tyabb Netball Association (TNA) take off this term with teams being selected and games starting happening at recess and lunch times. A big thank you to Nick Gleeson for getting this off its feet. Many students have enjoyed both playing and watching these games.
We encourage all students to take up the many opportunities offered by Padua in the area of sport this year. It is a great way to make new friends, improve your skills and self-esteem and to get the most out of your time at Padua. You don’t need to be the fastest, most talented or the best at your sport; you just need to give it a go.

We have had a great start to 2020 with many new members to our team, which is great to see! The opening event of the year was show jumping at Boneo Park on 14 February with a big turnout of Padua College riders. Amy Bennett (Year 7 Cardijn), riding River Song, achieved fifth overall in her class, while Hannah Lionnet (Year 9 Doyle), riding Maple, came fourth in the jump off and fifth overall in the championship in her class. Maya Baxter (Year 12 Djeembana), riding Belcam Havida, achieved a ninth placing in her event.
Other riders competing at Boneo included Taneisha Chippindall (Year 9 McCormack), Isabel Dixon (Year 8 Cardijn), Karis Hawkins (Year 8 Teresa), Strobe Knox (Year 10 MacKillop), Piper Peers (Year 8 Geoghegan) and Makayla Schultz (Year 7 McAuley). Despite the wild weather, a good time was had by all.
Last December, Malie Muir (Year 9 McAuley) and her horse DeeJay Adonis (Donny) participated in the Toorak Show with pleasing results, including first place for both Led Horse and Most Educated Horse, second for Ridden Horse and fourth for Rider.
It’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm and team spirit at these events and the year has only just begun!

On Wednesday 26 February, I attended the Schools Surf League Competition at Mordialloc beach. The weather was a big impact on the day and ended the event early but I did get to do the board race. It was a really fun race and I enjoyed participating, but the choppy surf made people and boards go everywhere and it was hard to get into a comfortable position, and I did place last. Not long after my race, the weather turned and the rain and huge winds became too much. Everyone ran for cover and the competition was cancelled. I didn't get to do all the events I was looking forward to but I enjoyed going out on the board.
