Last Tuesday we travelled to Mornington Campus to attend the College Opening Assembly, which was also a wonderful celebration of our Year 12 Academic High Achievers. It is always a very positive occasion and a great opportunity to bring our campuses together. Furthermore, it helps our junior students to develop their own learning aspirations for the future.
Our new Year 7 students are settling in well, looking forward to getting to know each other and their teachers during the upcoming camp. This year we are very pleased to have Father Michael Miles and Marie Strong join us on the Monday night. The camp is an opportunity early in the year for our Year 7 students to build relationships with staff and other students in a relaxed environment.
A reminder that students need to wear a hat in the yard during term one and term four. Please ensure that your child has a hat and it has a name on it.
This year at Padua College, we will be expanding the Hands on Learning program to two days a week at our Tyabb Campus and one day a week at our Rosebud Campus. Mornington Campus students will have the opportunity to join one of the groups. Hands on Learning (HoL) is a practical in-school program that caters to the different ways young people learn, helping to build confidence, engagement and achievement at school. Students thrive at learning by developing teamwork, self-discipline and interpersonal skills vital for the 21st century workforce. HoL was first piloted in 1999 and now runs in schools in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania. It was recently judged one of the top 100 education programs in the world.
