Term one is now in full swing and I would like to congratulate all who have made an excellent start to the 2020 academic year. Our Opening Assembly saw the Year 7 students formally welcomed to the College with thunderous applause for each House as they entered the Girolami Hall, along with the presentation of Academic High Achievers from the Class of 2019, it was indeed a special event.
I would like to encourage our junior students to take up every opportunity to engage in all aspects of College life.
Over the course of the past few weeks, Year 7-9 students have engaged in co-curricular activities including:
• Cross-country training with Mr Luppino after school on a Monday afternoon
• Swimming training with Mr Di Paolo before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays
• Homework Hub, Monday-Thursday after school in room U122 with Mrs Hardie and Mr Laird, and senior students also providing assistance.
Please keep an eye out for other opportunities to get involved in the full breadth of College life.
We encourage all our students to get involved wherever they can, for example at our upcoming Year 7-9 swimming carnival on Monday 24 February. An early reminder to ensure that all students wear their House polo shirt and gym shorts over their swimming costume, along with their sun hat/cap.
I would like to wish all our Year 7 students and staff well as they head out on Year 7 camps (Red and Green Houses 2-4 March, Blue and Gold Houses 4-6 March) to Camp Howqua. This camp provides students opportunities to further develop relationships within the House so that they can be connected and engaged in their learning environment at Padua in the years ahead.
Wishing you continued blessings,
Stephen Veneris
Deputy Principal | Head of 7-9 Campus Mornington
