As we draw to the end of term 3 we can reflect on the tenacity and resilience of our senior students in managing their studies and forging plans for their future pathways.

The opportunity to access online Open Days this year has been invaluable. Our careers team have been working with students to assist with these days and students know that they are more than welcome to make contact with their House careers team member anytime.

VTAC & SEAS reminders

Well done to those who have done some or all of these steps, but please check again:

• VTAC accounts – should be set up and $41 fee paid by 30 September. After that late fee of $115 applies.
• SEAS – must be completed in VTAC account– supporting statements for Categories 3 and 4 are due week 1 of next term 9 October. Be sure to give people time to prepare these for you.
• SEAS – we encourage all students to apply for SEAS category 1 (Personal details & location) and 4 (COVID questions)
• Scholarships – apply in VTAC, (especially if you have Medical & Financial in SEAS) by 9 October
• Course Preferences – can be up to 8 courses and you can add /delete / change these right up until 4 January 2021
• Add a Pathways course ( just as a backup plan) – Pathways info

Please also check specific requirements that your course may require- these are listed in Course search. Check these carefully and be sure to meet deadlines. Students will not be offered a position in the course if these specific tasks are not completed or met, regardless of your ATAR.

• Teaching / Education – Casper Testing Oct 8 - 11:00 AM OR Nov 15 - 1:00 PM
• Nursing – English Declaration in VTAC
• Art Folios – check due dates and complete all Selection Tasks ( especially for RMIT & Deakin)
• Personal statements

Scholarships provide financial support to help students with the costs of tertiary education. Scholarships are not only for high achievers. Find out about the various types of scholarships available and we suggest you make scholarship applications – both in VTAC and offerings by applying directly to the Universities.

RMIT

Selection task submissions are now open for 2021 intake. All selection tasks must be submitted by 6 November for the Art, Design & Architecture programs to be eligible for the January offer round, except for the Bachelor of Architectural Design which must close on 2 October and the Associate Degree in Design (Furniture) which must close on 30 November. There are three webinars coming up in September that will provide students direct access to selection officers for program advice about selection task requirements. Advice on Selection Tasks .

Folio submission information - The following creative arts and design courses will require a folio submission and students are required to upload between six to eight examples of their work :

Federation University Scholarships for 2021

Scholarship applications are now open and Application is direct to the university. They respect that many people have been affected by the COVID 19 pandemic and that this might affect academic performance. In recognition of this impact, they invite all interested students, irrespective of ATAR outcome, to apply for our scholarships. Federation University also provides financial support to students in a variety of areas such as book grants, nursing kit grants, placement grants, development grants, computer grants, clothing grants and specialist equipment grants.

TAFE Courses

TAFE Institutions have many courses on offer, including a wide range of FREE courses available to study.

Study at Chisholm Students must apply direct to Chisholm for a 2021 course and can expect Chisholm to contact them in October/November when enrolments are officially opened up for 2021 intake. Student are advised to register their interest on the Chisholm website.

Emerging Occupations

The National Skills Commission (NSC) has developed a data-driven approach to identify emerging occupations within Australia. By identifying emerging skills and looking at how these skills change existing jobs, we are able to identify emerging or new jobs in the labour market. Students are encouraged to browse the National Skills Commission website and learn more about emerging occupations.
