Deputy Principal's Report

We are now moving through term three and while we are apart physically, we still have many opportunities to come together to celebrate and live out the three Padua Ideals:
1. Do your best
2. Help others achieve
3. Respect environment and community

In our lessons and in co-curricular activities so many of our students are trying their very best, many of these students were celebrated during our Whole School Assembly on Tuesday this week and during our Junior Campus Assembly on Thursday morning.

I have also seen firsthand the wonderful work some of our Year 9 students have done in their Aspire9 electives to work with and support Year 6 students at our local primary schools of St Macartans, St Thomas More as well at Our Lady of Fatima (Rosebud) and St Joseph’s Sorrento. Within the two Year 9 electives, Mathematical Modelling and The ShareMarket course, our Year 9 students have been working with the Year 6 students, guiding them in their learning and also giving them a chance to find out a bit more about Padua before they join us next year.

Therefore, I would like to thank and acknowledge the following students as well as Mr Luke Martin, who was taught the Mathematical Modelling class across the three Padua Campuses as well as the four primary schools:

Year 8 Food Technology

Muffins are often a handy item to add to lunchboxes (when at school), picnic baskets or to have as an afternoon treat. You can add almost any ingredient to a batch of muffins. Ms Roser shared a demonstration video with her Year 8s and then challenged them to put a spin on this simple mix for muffins to suit their flavour cravings! Bailey Scott made 6 sweet banana and cinnamon muffins and 6 savour sweet chilli and cheese muffins, while Ella U’Ren whipped up a batch of delicious gluten free choc chip banana muffins. You can find a copy of the basic recipe below if you would like to try and experiement by making some for yourself (makes 12).

Ingredients

2 cups self-raising flour
1/2 cup of sugar
1 cup of milk
1 egg
¼ cup vegetable oil
1tsp vanilla essence (optional)
1tsp spice (optional)
1 piece of fruit (optional)

Instructions
Preheat oven to 180oC.
Line a muffin tin with 12 paper cases.
Collect, measure and prepare ingredients.
Prepare fruit/vegetable as required.
Sift flour into a large bowl. Add sugar and selected spices.
In a separate bowl, whisk egg, milk, oil and vanilla essence until smooth.
Pour the egg mixture into the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
Fold in your choice of fruit/vegetable.
Optional – top with seeds or your choice, or extra spice/s.
Spoon into muffin tin so each paper case is ¾ full.
Bake for 20 minutes or until just firm to touch.
Cool on a wire rack.

Enjoy!
