Remote Learning Phase 2 continues and we now have new rules across many aspects of our lives.
This has meant some adjustments to the plans for the day-to-day activities of our students on the Mornington Junior Campus.
We will not have morning homeroom each morning as we’ve found the 10 minutes is not long enough for staff and students to connect on the Junior Campus.
We will however continue to do our eXcel lesson every Tuesday and we will have Thursday mornings set aside for House/homeroom and campus-based assemblies and meetings.
On other days of the week students are expected to engage in classes at the beginning of Period 1 (9:00 am start) and in this first period of the day you will commence with daily prayer. Your engagement will still be monitored closely through eXcel lessons and the Weekly Wellness Check-In by your homeroom teacher/House Co-ordinator.
As we were unable to celebrate Padua Day earlier this year, next Tuesday 11 August (commencing at 8.50 am) we will be holding a Padua Liturgy to celebrate as a College. All students will be provided details of the livestream link on the Monday before and it is expected that students will participate in this celebration. Parents are also very welcome to join with them at this time.
Whilst this is a difficult and challenging time, we ask that our students always remember our three College Ideals:
1. Do your best
2. Help others achieve
3. Respect community and environment
For assistance, particularly with Maths and Science, Ms Hardie and Mr Laird will be on hand to lend support 3:30pm-4:30pm on Monday-Thursday each week, via Google Meet (Homework Hub), commencing Monday 10 August, for the remainder of remote learning this term. The link to join the virtual “Homework Hub” can be found on SIMON.
Thank you to Mrs Hardie and Mr Laird for continuing to offer the Homework Hub on top of the normal duties at this time.
Wishing you continued blessings,
Stephen Veneris
Deputy Principal | Head of 7-9 Campus Mornington
During this period of Phase 2 Remote Learning, the Padua College Libraries are working to support students and staff in a variety of ways.
Our Library Homepage is accessible to students at home and contains a number of resources that support reading, research and various subject areas.
Online access to Encyclopaedia Britannica, databases, Ergo (from the State Library of Victoria) and the Age newspaper provides information to assist with learning in different subject areas as well as general information to support study.
The Library continues to run our RED reading program at Years 7 and 8 during remote learning. Students are able to borrow online books as we have a number of eBooks and Audio books available through the Library home page on our Borrow Box and Wheelers eBook platforms.
To access all of our Library resources and books, students need to simply log onto the Library Homepage via SIMON.

After discussions with community members about difficulties in the current era, Hands on Learning (HoL) students decided to make an interactive website to help parents of pre-schoolers and early childhood educators.
Each week, HoL students from all campuses upload an edited video of themselves engaging in an activity such as reading a book, demonstrating a craft, doing yoga or exercise, or one of many other activities. This week, Imanii Hurren, Year 8 Cardijn (Tyabb Campus) showed us how to make a mask. You can watch her video here.
The purpose of this term's task is primarily to make links with the community but also to give each student’s tasks a purpose and an audience to whom they can direct their efforts.
As content develops on the HoL interactive website, it will be shared with some local early childhood learning centres and kindergartens as well as a specialist school and a nursing home.
This is a fantastic initiative by our Hands on Learning students and we will keep you posted as to how it’s progressing.
Meanwhile, Imanii has made more than 50 masks and given them to people that need them without asking for anything in return. What a legend!
