Our careers team has been busy with our virtual ECAT evening and conducting individual student interviews across all levels in the past weeks. It has been wonderful to have students and parents engaging in these conversations. The subject selection process for students is now complete and we want to thank everyone for their involvement in this process.
VTAC opened this week and we encourage Year 12 students to check their emails for the details and to follow the instructions to set up their account with VTAC. This is where course preferences for 2021 can be added and applications made for SEAS and Scholarships. It is important to take note of the dates for this process. If students need assistance they are welcome to make contact with their careers team member for their House.
From mid-August, Year 11 students will be invited to meet with a Careers Team Member to review their career pathway and plans for 2021, if they would like to.
It is now ‘Open Day’ season, so please make the most of the opportunities to visit institutions virtually. Year 10, 11 and 12 students are encouraged to attend some of these sessions to explore the offerings and make future plans.
Please take note of events below that are relevant to you and register to attend: Open Day visits

The following VTAC guides are now available:
Swinburne – Early Entry Program
Swinburne are adding an option that removes ATARs from the equation. They are making early conditional offers (as early as August) based on a recommendation from your school for specific courses. You’ll still need to complete Year 12 and achieve specific subject study scores to receive a full offer. 43 courses will be available for early entry applications via the 2021 Early Entry Program. Students must use the specific course code in their VTAC application if they are intending to apply for them via the Program.
There are seven UniLink Diplomas as part of the Early Entry Program. Students who may be unsure about going directly into the Degree program can include the UniLink pathway on their preference list. More Information here.
The ACU Guarantee program offers eligible Year 12 students a place at ACU based on your Year 11 results. By assessing your Year 11 results, we can give you a predicted selection rank and make you an offer before you sit your VCE. Of course, your final exams still matter – and you still need to finish Year 12 to validate your offer. Applications open 3 August 2020. More Information here.
La Trobe – Aspire Early Admissions Program
Aspire Early Admissions Program rewards your involvement in community, leadership and volunteering with an early conditional offer into your chosen course at La Trobe. To receive an early conditional offer as a Year 12 Aspire applicant, you’ll need to meet the minimum ATAR for your course, meet the standard prerequisites and any special requirements for your course, and place your Aspire course amongst your preferences in the VTAC/UAC preference list. More Information here.
There are many ways for your students to secure a place at La Trobe in 2021, and ATAR is just one of them.
Research shows there are other ways to measure students' achievements so La Trobe has created two free pathways where students can study a La Trobe subject or micro-subjects online. La Trobe will use their results, instead of an ATAR, when they apply for an eligible Bachelor’s degree.
In ‘Achieve at La Trobe’, VCE students can complete a first year La Trobe subject online in Semester 2, 2020. La Trobe will use their mark to calculate an ATAR-equivalent score – and if it’s higher than their ATAR, the university will use this score when they apply to La Trobe.
In ‘Prepare for La Trobe’, students can complete online and free micro-subjects from our Tertiary Preparation Program that’ll give them the skills to thrive at uni, as well as an ATAR-equivalent score they can use when they apply. VCE students will complete three micro-subjects and VCAL students will complete six.
Both pathways are free, online and offer tailored support services to help students succeed.
