Deputy Principal Report

Welcome back to all on the Year 7-9 Mornington Campus!

Our first week back has been filled with energy and action with all our students getting to know each other and their teachers in their new classes.

In 2020 we continue to develop the concept of ‘The Village’ which articulates the idea that “it takes a village to raise a child”. In this spirit, I encourage all parents and guardians to please feel confident that you can contact your child’s homeroom teacher and then perhaps House Co-ordinator should you have any query or concern. We encourage open communication so that we can work together to enable and support your child to use their God given gifts to the best of their ability so that they can make a positive impact in the world, today and in the future.

Our College theme for 2020 is ‘Light’. This is taken from The Prayer of St Francis and each year we move through this prayer to focus on a new aspect. In 2020 this call for ‘Light’ links in well with the idea that each child is enabled to use their gifts to the best of their ability, as we are all called to do in Matthew’s Gospel: “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house”.

May we all, especially the students in the Year 7 – 9 Campus Mornington, let our light shine in 2020!

Wishing you all continued blessings.

Padua College Rugby Top

Padua has introduced a new rugby top for students to wear with their sports uniform. It is replacing the polar fleece, but is being phased in gradually so it’s not an immediate cost for parents.

Year 7s are to wear the rugby top and/or soft shell jacket over their PE polo top for sport. Students in all other year levels (8-12) can still wear the polar fleece with their sports uniform on the days they have PE, or the new rugby top if parents wish to purchase them.

The rugby tops are not to be worn as an alternative to the blazer.

The cost for the rugby top is $85.00 and they can be purchased through the Dobsons uniform shops at Padua’s Mornington and Rosebud Campuses.

St Vinnies Bushfire Appeal

When we gather for our whole College Opening Assembly next Tuesday 11 February, we will take the opportunity to have a school-wide appeal for the St Vinnies Bushfire Appeal. The assembly will include a liturgy focusing on the College Year of Light and how we can be a light to others, particularly in their darkest times. We ask that students bring a gold coin donation if they are able to do so.

We thank you for your support.
