LISA MODD
CO-DIRECTOR, ROSEBUD CAMPUS
Welcome to Term 4 and a further very warm welcome to our new staff member Emma Wildig. Emma is teaching in the areas of Science and Humanities and is the McAuley 1 homeroom teacher.
This term is always a special one – a time to celebrate the growth and achievements of our students as well as a time for reflection, and acknowledgement of milestones. Part of our College celebrations involve our Rosebud students having the opportunity to farewell our current Year 12 students at the Mornington Campus. There is always such a positive sense of community, excitement and anticipation when we gather as a whole school community. For the junior students to be involved in the acknowledgement of the high achieving VCE students is certainly an encouraging experience. We wish all our Year 12s the very best in their upcoming exams.
We were thrilled to host the annual Academic challenge day last week. Each year we have some of our feeder primary schools competing in teams against our Year 7s students from the three campuses. The teams compete in a wide range of activities involving STEM, Mathematics, English, Science and Design. All teams were engaged in activities which challenged their critical thinking skills and creativity. A huge congratulations to the students from Our Lady of Fatima who were the overall winners.
Last week Luka, Emilia, Niamh, Torston, Charlie, Max, Archie, Miron, Estelle and I (Sofia), all competed in the Academic challenge for a chance to win a wooden trophy. We all worked together to achieve multiple first place awards and certificates, whilst planning at lunch time how we were going to work our performance.
We competed in many subjects, going over things such as: Humanities, Maths, English, Design, Code breaking, Poetry and Art, Science, Geography and Drama. It was an opportunity none of us could forget and we thank all staff members who contributed to the making of this eventful day. We would also like to thank Padua Tyabb and Mornington and all the primary schools who came to join in. Well done to Our Lady Of Fatima who managed to win the competition. We all had so much fun and we hope that there is something like that day again for next Year's 7s.
A big thank you to Bayden and Sam who ran through the day with us and another big thanks to Miss Modd and Mr Helisma who invited us all to contribute.
Sofia, Year 7 McAuley
Last Saturday, the Rosebud Rosies competed in the aerobics spring competition. Our team consists of 7 girls both Year 7s and 8s. Siena, Sofia, Iris, Ruby, Amelie, Coco and Layla. Our team's hard work and dedication paid off throughout the year, as we placed 2nd and all received a medal. Later we found out we were only 0 .1 points from coming first! Our efforts paid off and we are excited to compete again next year. We would also like to say a thank you to our amazing coach Mrs Bampton we couldn't have done it without her.
Siena Year 8, Goold
Yesterday our Year 9 students were involved in a transition day at the Mornington campus. It was a wonderful day for our current Year 9s to meet their 2026 House coordinator and fellow classmates. This term is sure to fly by with lots of events planned, so we encourage you to monitor your email and Operoo accounts. We thank our families for their continued partnership and encouragement, and we look forward to a positive and productive term together.
At times, photographs or videos of our students will be published in newsletters, on the school intranet or website, or in our social media. Copies of our Standard Collection Notice and Privacy Policy are available on the College website in the Enrolments section of our Policies page.
