On Monday 25th August, a group of student writers and illustrators from across four schools met at Padua Tyabb for SIS Book in a Day. Each group of students were given a set of prompts and had eight hours to write, illustrate and publish a 6000-word novel. It was a day filled with joy as students brainstormed, collaborated, and produced creative masterpieces that will be read and judged by students across multiple schools. Thank you to all the schools and students involved in this inspirational day.
A huge congratulations to our Year 8 Aerobics team, the Padua Panthers, who proudly represented our school at the National School Aerobics Championships in Hobart over the weekend.
Taking on a significant leap in categories, the team faced fierce competition. While they didn’t come home with a medal this time, their unwavering school spirit, dedication, and pride in their performance were truly outstanding.
We are immensely proud of all the hard work and commitment shown by every team member, and we extend a special thank you to their Year 10 student coaches, Emmy McIvor and Laura Howard, whose passion, leadership, and countless hours of preparation helped the Panthers reach the national stage.
Well done, Padua Panthers – your determination and team spirit have made us all proud!
n the sunny Tuesday of August 5, 13 students represented Padua College at the SIS (Southern Independent Schools) lawn bowls competition at Karingal Bowls Club. The format was 6 sectional games playing triples, 3 ends per game with 2 members being rotated per game.
The Padua Tyabb team won 5 out of their 6 games and performed really well to finish 2nd on the ladder out of 14 teams. This qualified them for a place in the final.
They got into the grand final, but unfortunately lost 2-6 against Bayside Christian College
The Padua Tyabb team was led by Callum Baird and involved Lance Currenti, Bailey Hogg, Ana Ballas and Ada Judd
Finishing 2nd means the team has been invited up to Sunbury, on the outskirts of Melbourne's North-West on the 2nd of September. They will be playing other schools around all of Victoria.
Senior Boy’s Herald Sun Football – Division 1 Championships
Padua College’s Senior Football team capped off a fantastic year of school football with a hard-fought Herald Sun Shield semi-final against Catherine McCauley College, where they fell short of a grand final berth despite a brave effort. After a strong opening quarter that saw Padua take the lead 4.1 (25) to 3.3 (21), the team battled hard to keep themselves in the contest, however the opposition's strength and depth proved decisive in the second half. The final scoreline, 6.2 (38) to 12.18 (90), did not reflect the determination, pride, and spirit with which Padua competed. Well done to all 44 senior students who have worn the blue and gold this year for Padua. Losing only two games across the entire season, the team’s commitment to weekly training, their positive attitude, and their consistent teamwork have been outstanding, making this campaign one of the college’s most memorable in recent years.
Senior Girls Herald Sun Football – Division 2 Championships
The Senior Girls team travelled to Ford Park, Ivanhoe, to compete in the Division 2 round robin, facing Ballarat Grammar, CRC Sydenham, and St Paul’s Anglican Grammar. Despite missing several key players due to Dandenong Stingray commitments, the team won two of their three pool games and advanced to the final, where they were narrowly defeated by a strong Ballarat Grammar side.
Standout Performers
A gutsy effort from a resilient team and they should be very proud of the efforts shown.
Despite the chilly, rain-speckled weather at Jubilee Park, our three ‘super’ netball teams from across Padua’s campuses brought the heat at the All Schools Netball Championships!
Senior Girls: Battled hard with 6 wins and 2 close losses
Intermediate Girls: Solid effort with 3 wins, 2 losses, and a draw
Junior Girls: Undefeated champions with 7 straight wins — now heading to the finals in September at the State Netball & Hockey Centre in Parkville!
Huge congratulations to all the girls who played with heart and hustle. We’re so proud of you!
