CO-DIRECTOR OF ROSEBUD CAMPUS
As the cooler weather sets in, it is a timely reminder for all students to wear their blazers to homeroom and at the end of the school day. Obviously, the blazer is more than an article of clothing to keep warm. It is a shared symbol of our college identity. Wearing the uniform correctly sets the tone for the day.
Year 9 students have recently completed their English and Math exams and have commenced conversations with our careers team focusing on their Year 10 subject selection and educational pathway.
Many thanks to approximately one hundred students from Year 7 and 9 who recently participated in a trial NAPLAN test to assist ACARA (Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority). This data will assist with the development of future educational testing.
We recently farewelled one of our legendary Learning Enhancement staff, Ms Sherelle Perry. We wish her all the best as she begins a new and exciting chapter-welcoming her first child! Sherelle’s positivity, care and dedication will be greatly missed and we look forward to hearing joyful news soon.
Whether it is in academics, sport, the arts, leadership or service, student achievements are a constant source of inspiration for our staff. Once again, thank you students supporting each other and for your involvement in the many activities Padua has to offers. A special thanks to the students who have provided reports for this edition of the Paduan.
We wish you all the best for the upcoming holidays.
God Bless,
Phillip Helisma and Lisa Modd
On Tuesday 29 April, Padua competed in the SIS swimming competition where a group of students went to compete and represent Padua. Following on from SIS was VSAC where three representatives from Rosebud campus made it to this stage. Congratulations to Maddie Anderson, Mila Skehan and Ruby Quint.
This term on Monday 12 May we all went up to MSAC and competed, representing SIS. We gave every event our best effort and tried our hardest. Whilst the competition was tough, we went in with a positive attitude, strong mindset ready for the challenge. We went well, swam fast whilst making Padua proud. Congratulations to all Padua students making it to VSAC.
Maddie Anderson, Year 8 Teresa
The Rosebud aerobics team, ‘The Rosies’, is made up of seven girls, Alba, Jacinta, Coco, Ruby, Amelie, Sophia and myself, Siena . We had our first ever Aerobics competition competing in regionals where we went up against other schools in our surrounding areas, we were excited to come second. Just two weeks later, we performed at the state finals against the whole of Victoria. Although we faced tough competition, we finished 11th and are so proud of our effort and teamwork. Although we did not make it through to nationals this experience has brought us closer and has taught us valuable teamwork skills.
We are excited to be competing in the spring competition in a couple of months, and are committed to keeping up our hard work and training to perfect our routine. We can't wait to showcase our skills and continue growing as a team. On behalf of our team, we would like to thank all the Rosebud teachers who supported us and Miss Bampton for her dedication in coaching and believing in us.

Over this term the girls SIS football team has competed in an AFL game each Friday. Our first game commenced on Friday 16 May at home, where we played Hillcrest. We played our best and won by many goals. We then had a bye the next week, but the week after that on 30 May we played Padua Mornington, and although trying our best, we lost. Our most recent game was on Friday 6 June where we played Padua Tyabb, we played very well and won again. Last week we were soundly beaten by St Francis Xavier Officer. We have one more game this term against playing St Francis Xavier Berwick. We will try our best and hopefully end the season with a win.
Lucy Green, Leni Roumeliotis, and Lucy Serong, Year 9 Anthony
The Junior SIS Girls’ Netball D team showcased outstanding performance during this term, securing three victories out of four games. They started strong with back-to-back wins, displaying excellent teamwork and sharp shooting. Despite a tough loss in the third match, they bounced back with determination to claim victory in the final game. Their resilience and skill made their school proud, proving their strength as an awesome team. Congratulations on a fantastic effort!
Sadie Jobling, Year 8 Goold
In Term Two, the Rosebud soccer team played five games to end with a record of four wins and one loss. Everybody played well for all games showing off the sportsmanship and the Padua values. Overall a good season for all of us.
Some of the Year 8 boys got selected to participate in the SIS soccer competition. We had a solid team with Mr Chappell as our coach, and we started the season with a win at home. We continued to succeed with a big 5-0 win and then beating Cornish 2-0. The top of the table team had beaten Cornish 11-0, and we were playing them next in the biggest game of the season. We beat them 2-1 away in a tight game to take the spot at the top of the table. Unluckily, in the last game of the season, we lost 1-0 to Bayside, and we ended tied on top of the table at the end of the season. We had a very successful season and are appreciative that we got this experience. Thanks to Mr Chappell and the GOAT goalie Kurtis Sosic.
John Goss, Year 8 Anthony, and Nayte Katramados, Year 8 Goold
Working with the Flinders Golf Club has been a real privilege. We started learning golf at the beginning of the term. We have already been taught how to Drive, Pitch and Chip with a golf club, as well as learning how to swing and stand properly. We have these sessions during break one or two on a Tuesday. This opportunity has been great and will continue to be amazing. We are enjoying the lessons at school, and we are progressing in our golf skills rapidly. We are looking forward to the scholarship continuing at the Flinders Golf Club for after school sessions. We’d like to give a big thanks to the Flinders Golf Club for the opportunity to learn how to play golf like pros.”
Renee Bradler, Elizabeth Jenkins, and Alba Marshall, Year 8 Goold
I recently competed in the SIS Cross-Country Competition. Although I am in Year 8, I represented the College in the U17 division. The event was held at Casey Fields in very difficult cold, windy conditions. I enjoyed the day and was proud to be a part of another victorious Padua Cross Country team.
Ruby Carroll, Year 8 Anthony
INTERLEAGUE FOOTBALL
The interleague football team is selected from players across the Mornington Peninsula. Several boys were initially selected in a squad of approximately 70 players. During training sessions over the following months, the selection process finished with a team of 25. Congratulations to Jake Shearer, Kurtis Sosic, Mack Mitchell, Paker Dunwoodie, Toby Adlington and Jude Farrelly for making it to the Division 1 squad.
Jake reported that the team played two interleague games against some huge talented opposition and the competition was tough. Although the team lost both games Jake said that it was a fantastic experience as the boys were pushed physically and it was great to play with such a talented group.
Jake Shearer, Year 8 McAuley
A strong worksite ethos is rubbing off on the dynamic team at Padua College Rosebud who have smashed out multiple projects to enhance their precinct from a firepit to an extensive deck – let alone the addition of a café servery window.
