Veneris Stephen 2024

Stephen Veneris

Congratulations to all students on the way they have engaged with their studies and co-curricular activities throughout Semester One and particularly Term Two. There has been so much to celebrate with Padua Day, Aspire9 Camps, SIS Sport, including victories in SIS Interschool Swimming and the SIS Cross Country and many other activities as well as regular classroom learning.

As we reflect on the collective and individual achievements throughout the semester I am reminded of the parable of the “Lamp and the bushel”, which is told in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. Jesus calls us to let “our light shine” for the glory of God, and for the benefit of our communities and indeed ourselves. Our students have done this abundantly throughout Semester 1, 2025. Well done all!

Padua Day

We celebrated Padua Day on the third of June, this day marks a significant celebration for staff and students each year. Together all Campuses united to celebrate Padua College and the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua (which falls on the 13th of June). We were fortunate to have Fr Tony Doran to lead us in mass along with many of our local priests on the Peninsula. We also had our own Padua “Camino” walk to commence the day, as well as music, other fun activities and so much food - sausage rolls, mac ‘n cheese as well as a beautiful curry. A great day was had by all, thank you to all the Year 7-9 House Coordinators and Homeroom Teachers and student leaders for your efforts in arranging activities on the day.

E – Scooters

Please note, as outlined in earlier communications, E-Scooters are not able to be legally ridden by people under the age of 16. Therefore, no Junior Student should be using E-Scooters to get to and from school. Thank you for you support with this matter. Please note the important information contained in the documents below:

Digital Technology & Manufacturing PCU

Year 7 and 8 students at Padua College have the opportunity to select from a diverse range of term-long Padua Capability Units (PCU). In the Digital Technology and Manufacturing class the students participated in the the 3D Printing Egg Drop Challenge where they design and fabricate protective egg capsules using computer-aided design (CAD) software and 3D printing techniques with the aim to drop the capsule from a height keeping their egg intact. They work in teams, fostering collaboration as they brainstorm, prototype, and refine designs to withstand impact.

The project encourages problem-solving, as students test different structures, analyse failures, and adapt solutions to improve durability. Through this hands-on experience, students develop technical skills in digital modelling and printing while applying physics and engineering concepts.

The challenge promotes creativity, teamwork, and resilience, preparing students for real-world applications in design and innovation.
