The annual Padua College ECaT Expo provides students and parents with the opportunity to speak to representatives from Universities, TAFE Colleges, Private Colleges and Gap Year Programs, and employment organisations offering apprenticeship and traineeship options.
The College Subject Information Evening is held concurrently to allow families to explore and discuss subject offerings 2025 and pathways in senior school (including VCE, VCE VM and VET) with teachers and Heads of Learning Areas.
Pictures to come in the next edition.
On Wednesday 21 May four past students came to Padua College to talk to our Year 9s about careers. This session formed part of the Year 9 Work Ready Program, which has been run by the Careers Team throughout terms 1 and 2. The speakers Sean Erard (2019), Eryn Parker (2019), Dante Selek (2021) and Finn Whitty (2023) shared stories about their lives after Padua College, how they explored career options, pursued further study, overcame career challenges, and found fulfilment in their work. Pursuing careers in a variety of industries, the speakers gave our students direct insight into careers in cookery, entrepreneurialism, medicine, teaching, and sports management. Our students listened intently and seized the opportunity to ask the speakers questions at the end of the session. The Careers Team thanks Sean, Eryn, Dante, and Finn for taking time out of their busy schedules to talk to our students.
On Wednesday 21 May representatives from three sports colleges came to Padua College to talk to our Year 11 and 12 students about study and career opportunities in sport. This session was non-compulsory, yet many students made the effort to come along, which was excellent to see. The representatives were from Carlton College, Melbourne City FC, and Richmond Institute and they spoke to students about their course offerings, including diploma courses in sport coaching & development, sport leadership & management, and sport business management. Our students were delighted to learn that these diploma courses are delivered in conjunction with top universities and involve studying and working at club headquarters, walking the halls with the players, coaches, and managers, and representing the club on game days and at community events, and lead to an array of career pathways in sport. If you would like further information about the course offerings at these sports colleges, please contact the Careers Team.
On June 4 all Year 10 students undertook the Morrisby Profiling session – which required all students to undertake a series of questions that will help them understand their strengths and potential and guide them towards their best career, subject and future educational choices.
Following this on Friday June 6 and Wednesday June 11 all students were able to attend a Morrisby unpacking session with Tyson Day from Arrive and Thrive. This hour session with Tyson allowed the students to obtain an understanding of their profile – what it all means and how they can use this tool when looking at subject and pathway selection moving into VCE. We cannot thank Tyson enough from spending time at Padua College.
