We are excited to kick off another great season of SIS Weekly Sport in Term 2! Students across the three campuses in various year levels will have the opportunity to represent our school and develop their skills in a range of sports. On Thursday afternoons, our senior students will be heading out to compete in volleyball and football, while our junior teams will be taking part in netball, soccer, and volleyball. These competitions provide valuable experience, promote teamwork, and offer a fun way to stay active while building school spirit.
Friday afternoons are dedicated to our intermediate teams, with both girls and boys competing in football matches against other SIS schools. Our students are eager to take the field and show their commitment and enthusiasm for school sport. We encourage families to support their children and celebrate their efforts throughout the term. For detailed fixtures and locations, please visit the SIS website where all match schedules and updates can be found.
Padua College has once again proven its dominance in the pool, winning the swimming sports for the fifth consecutive year at MSAC today. With a dedicated squad of 75 swimmers, every student rose to the occasion, many achieving personal bests and showcasing the incredible depth of talent in the team. The energy, sportsmanship, and determination displayed throughout the day were a testament to the hard work put in during training and the strong team spirit that defines Padua’s swimming culture.
A standout moment came from the Under 14 girls relay team, who not only took first place but also smashed the SIS record with a remarkable time of 2.07.78. The team, made up of Ava Rogers, Ali Mearns, Maddie Anderson & Kenzie Riley delivered a flawless performance that highlighted both their individual skill and their seamless teamwork. Our senior swimmers also deserve special recognition for their leadership and commitment. Taking a full day out of their studies is no small ask, and yet they continue to give their all for the team. A heartfelt thank you to our Year 12 swimmers—Callum Rossetto, Emma May-Konning, and Imogen Day—who competed with pride, led with integrity, and leave behind a legacy of excellence and dedication.
A huge thank you goes out to Luke Morgan, Jen De Longville, Heidi Hutchinson, Jo Goldsmid, and Sherelle Perry for their incredible support. From behind-the-scenes organisation to courtside encouragement, your tireless efforts made this day the success it was.
What a fantastic day for Padua College—congratulations to everyone involved and to the following students who were selected to represent the SIS at the VSAC Comp: Ava Rogers, Callum Rossetto, Charlotte Snow, Logan Shelley, Mackenzie Riley, Madeleine Anderson, Milla Skehan, Jack Seaburgh, Thomas Rosler-Scott, Ruby Quint, Ali Mearns, Will Warner.
On Tuesday 29 April, Padua attended the annual SIS swimming sports. Our swimmers gave it their all on the day and worked together to achieve an excellent outcome. Padua won the junior, intermediate and senior shields, and also took the overall win, leading by 137 points. The team spirit of cheering each other on reflected greatly on the overall performance of the team and how our success came to be.
With plenty of new Year 7’s at their first SIS swimming, it was a great experience overall giving exposure to the padua spirit. With many great performances and some even qualifying for the next stage and representing the southern independent schools as a whole, we had an exceptional performance from all the padua students competing across the year levels. A big thank you to all the teachers who came along to help out and cheered us on, we couldn’t do it without you. It was a great way to spend our last SIS swimming at Padua College!
Emma May-Konning, Callum Rosseto and Imogen Day, Year 12
On Monday 12th May, a number of keen swimmers who have been through numerous rounds of qualifications were given the opportunity to compete at the VSAC swimming championships. This event was held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre with swimmers representing the Southern Independent Schools.
It was a great night of sportsmanship and cheering where swimmers were competing against the best of the best around Victoria.
Well done to everyone who competed, it was a wonderful experience for all.

Padua College delivered a powerhouse performance on Wednesday afternoon, storming to a convincing 76-point win over St Francis Xavier in what can only be described as a four-quarter masterclass — with a few party tricks thrown in for good measure.
The first quarter was all Padua, with the boys bursting out of the gates like it was 2.55pm on a Friday. With seven goals to one, they left St Francis Xavier chasing shadows and wondering if the game had started early without them. Stingray listed Noah Wisken was everywhere! The boy from Cribby was dominating up forward, in the air, and probably in his opponent’s nightmares — slotting goals like it was a lunchtime kick-to-kick.
By halftime, the scoreboard told a clear story: 12.6 (78) to 3.1 (19). While the early crowd (mostly students on a ‘toilet break’ and a few curious PE teachers) were thrilled with the scoring frenzy, the Padua coaching staff were more impressed with the team's defensive discipline and hard running. Finbar Feehely played with the sort of composure you'd expect from someone doing a Year 12 English oral — calm on the outside, fierce underneath. Riley Galvin and Tom Storr patrolled the backline like nightclub bouncers: cool, composed, and definitely not letting anything through without a serious contest.
The third quarter saw Padua keep the foot on the gas. Riley Puls bobbed up like a jack-in-the-box to snag three goals, showing off both his Jack Ginnivan like ducking skills and nose for the goals. Angus Derham, Leo Morley, and our second Stingray listed star Thom Hose each added a pair, while Kai Wunderly and Xavier Barr continued to rack up possessions and cause headaches for the opposition.
By the final siren, Padua had piled on 18 goals, with 10 individual goalkickers. The team’s ability to share the load and keep St Francis Xavier guessing was a key highlight.
It was one of the better displays of team football the College has seen for some years and is credit to the commitment and dedication the lads have shown from the beginning of the year. All of the boys played unselfish, team first footy and have already really bonded as a group.
It’s a big season ahead and hopefully this is the beginning of another tilt at the prestigious Herald Sun Shield later in the season.
If you see any of them around give them a pat on the back.
Enjoy your weekend.
