Caving at Britannia Creek

We had the pleasure of going to Warburton/Yarra junction for our fourth Outdoor Education excursion of the year. After a two-hour drive, we arrived at the Britannia Creek Geological Reserve, a fascinating place with a complex cave system for caving and a challenging creek walk.

We worked our way up the river system walking along slippery rocks and barging against the rushing water until we had a stop at a small waterfall where we participated in a cold plunge and had to fully immerse ourselves in it. Our guide Mal was talking this up a lot and talked about the benefits, which we could feel after we got drenched and newly invigorated for the next experience.

For me, the caving activity was the most fun I’ve had in Outdoor Education this year and we've already done some pretty awesome things! We entered the cave through a big entrance, already soaked from the river and turned on our head torches. As we headed in, we grew more confident with every step and tight squeeze. Exploring the cave was exhilarating and humbling as each twist, crawl and climb led to an even more challenging part of the system. Leaving the caves gave us a new admiration for the place and were very grateful for the opportunity to be doing this subject.

Year 12s Hear Powerful Road Safety Message

Year 12 students attended the impactful Teenagers Road Accident Group (TRAG) seminar this week, part of Padua’s three-year Road Safety program. Featuring emergency responders and road trauma survivors, the session delivered raw, real-life stories to inspire safer driving. The message was clear: if one life is saved, the mission of 'Drive 4 Life' is a success.

Dangerous Road Crossing

Following a number of significant near misses involving vehicles needing to stop abruptly to avoid pedestrians who are crossing the road inappropriately, the College would like to reiterate its directive regarding student movement. To ensure the safety of all road users and pedestrians, students and families are reminded that students walking on the north side of Oakbank Road is not permitted. This policy is particularly applicable to students crossing from the north side of Nepean Highway to Oakbank Road. Thank you for your cooperation in promoting safety within our community.

Students must refrain from crossing in front of moving traffic. Please utilize the designated pedestrian crossing and wait for the traffic signals to change, even if it requires a wait for lights to change.

We sincerely thank all the parents and carers who continue to support us in helping our students present themselves with pride and make the most of the valuable opportunities available to them. Your partnership is greatly appreciated.
