As the Youth Member for Flinders, I had the privilege of representing our community at the 2026 National Youth Parliament in Canberra. It was an intense, yet unforgettable five-day, first hand insight into the nation's democratic process. Stepping into the shoes of a parliamentarian, I worked alongside fellow Youth Members to debate two critical pieces of legislation concerning AI transparency and intergenerational fairness, both of which successfully passed after a long debate in the chambers of Old Parliament House. 

Beyond the debates, we had the extraordinary opportunity to share our experiences and ideas directly with federal MPs, Senators, Cabinet Ministers, the Governor-General, and the Prime Minister. On the final day, I took to the floor of Parliament House to deliver a 90 second adjournment speech focusing on the urgent issue of the cost-of-living crisis. 

The true highlight of the program was connecting with 149 other passionate, like-minded young leaders from every corner of Australia. The experience not only deepened my understanding of advocacy and policy making, but also left me with lasting friendships and a powerful reminder of what young people can achieve when we set our minds to something.
