Our VET Electrotechnology students visited Blue Scope Western Port Works this week where they had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into heavy industry, automation, electrical control systems, and career pathways.

Highlights included a site tour that covered the Pickle Line, Cold Reduction, and metallic coating lines, as well as an electrical control room. Our students met current electrical apprentices, including Padua College graduate Angus Wales, and they heard from senior management and HR personnel on career progression opportunities in mechanical and electrical engineering, and metallurgy, and practical advice on job application preparation. Our thanks to BlueScope Steel for hosting such a valuable learning experience for our students.
