Deputy Principal's Report

‘There but for the grace of God go us’

At our Wednesday morning prayer Mary Cameron, the College Pastoral Associate, led the Rosebud staff in a beautiful prayer to give thanks for the life of staff member Pauline Tweedly. Pauline passed away suddenly at home on Sunday evening.

Pauline has been a staff member at Padua Rosebud since 2009 assisting in the Textiles and Food Technology classes and was often in the Canteen. Pauline was a gentle soul who always had a smile and would quietly go about her daily work to support staff and students. Our thoughts, prayers and blessings on Pauline and her family. Pauline’s passion for the Western Bulldogs will not abate in heaven.

Well done to Isabella Bisogni, Kate Farquhar, Hyden Flynn, Caitlyn McCrabb, Ruby McPherson, Maddy Scharpenack, Katherine Spear and Olivia Wicks on their first place in the 2017 SIS Book in a Day Competition. The concept of the day is that a team of students from Years 7 -10 (made up of Literacy and Art skills) create, write and publish a fictitious short story in one day. Our Padua Rosebud Team were, to put it frankly, “brilliant” in their teamwork, imagination and perceptiveness to tap into what a hardy reader would enjoy! The story titled ‘Skin Deep’ is not for the faint hearted (a crime investigation) but it certainly keeps the reader glued to the story line. Perhaps a publisher’s contract will come along one day for such a talented group!

Congratulations also to Victoria Attwood. Victoria is following a family tradition in the footsteps of her older sister on making the ‘Top 10’ shortlisted stories for the 2017 La Trobe University Young Writers Competition. Victoria wrote a story titled, ‘Rattled’ and will read part of her text at the Awards Evening at the Bundara Campus on Tuesday 31 October. The announcement of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will be made on the night.  Literacy is kicking goals at Padua Rosebud!

Thankyou Our Lady of Fatima Primary School

This week representatives from Padua Rosebud, St Joseph’s Sorrento and the host school, Our Lady of Fatima met to discuss the transition of students from primary to secondary and plan ongoing networking for future years.  The meeting was productive and showcased the National Award Winning Fatima ‘Hub.’  A further intention from the meeting is to create and build on opportunities for greater connections for students, teachers and support staff. This initiative will be a very positive step forward for student learning for both the primary and secondary classrooms.

Term 4 has come around quickly. A term when Year 10 students will conclude their time at Padua Rosebud and leave a lasting legacy for their younger peers to follow and a time when Year 9s begin to see beyond the horizon of what is possible for their own futures.
