Deputy Principal's Report

Term 3 began with a magnificent celebration of all things Padua at our Year 7-10 Mornington Campus Awards Ceremony. Student achievements across an array of activities were recognised. As I say at each Grade 5 Interview that I host, “Whatever area of life you are interested in, you will be able to succeed in it at Padua College… if you are prepared to give it a go.”

At this assembly that truth was self-evident with awards covering Academic success and effort, Sports, Arts and Outreach. Indeed it was a celebration of the education we hope to provide for each student, an education for the “Whole Person”.

Apart from the large number of awards that were presented, other highlights of the Assembly included: the presentation of an Indigenous art piece as a gift from the Warralong Community who hosted the Padua Immersion Students over the School Holiday period, the presentation of the Mercy Scholarship to Megan Perry (Frayne), and a show-stopping performance by Natalie Winsall (Kolbe) who plays Belle and performed a piece from the College Production, “Beauty and the Beast”.

It is a vital part of our Padua Community that we come together to celebrate and affirm the achievements and efforts of our students, in the Gospel of Matthew we are advised… “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” Mathew 5:15

The light from our young people shines brightly and is a beacon to so many!

Please see a full list of award recipients on the Academic Awards Page in the Paduan, congratulations to you all!

I would also like to celebrate another Padua success story and that is Jack Moore, a Graduate from the Class of 2015. Jack was an active member of Kolbe and John XXIII Houses and was a valued member of the Student Programs Team. Jack successfully completed his VCE in 2015 whilst balancing his busy social life and a fanatical support for the Collingwood Football Club. He was able to spare some time to come and visit his old teachers and classmates along with his Guide Dog Spencer, please see an update from Jack on the Alumni Page of the Paduan, in his own words.

Wishing you all continued blessings!
