Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning

We congratulate two of our Year 12 VCAL students who recently accepted offers of full time apprenticeships.

Austin Omann: Earlier this year Austin worked one day a week with an electrician at Integrated Trades Australia. He is an extremely capable worker and when he was offered a full time apprenticeship with a Roof Plumber Austin decided this was a career pathway he was keen to pursue. In Years 9 and 10 Austin completed vocational training at Padua College in Horticulture and Landscape Design. We wish him all the very best as he begins his plumbing apprenticeship.

Anthony Doe: Over the past two years Anthony has worked part time for a butcher (Lindens Fresh Meat and Poultry) in Bentons Square. He quickly earned a reputation as being an efficient worker with excellent interpersonal skills. Anthony worked long hours in this job and thoroughly enjoyed the work. He recently accepted the offer of a full time apprenticeship in Meat Processing and we wish him well as begins this vocational pathway.

Year 11 VCAL: Balloon Football

As part of the SCOPE Young Ambassadors program our Year 11 VCAL students recently visited the Balloon Football League (BFL) centre  in Keysborough to help conduct games for people who live with a disability. Our students took on a range of roles including umpire, scorer and wheelchair driver. They were respectful of players and many students spent time communicating with the players in wheelchairs. Needless to say our students were extremely popular with BFL staff and players, and have been asked back to work with other BFL teams. (Photos in Gallery)

VCAL Year 12 Camp

Our annual Urban Camp will be held on July 24 -26. Our guided tours, coffee shop chats and problem solving exercises will focus on community issues such as homelessness. This urban experience will provide the basis for student projects back at school during Semester Two.
