Intermediate SIS Indoor Cricket Report

We played our first game at Mornington Indoor Sports Centre against John Paul College. We were on the back foot already with only having seven players but luckily enough John Paul lent us a player.  John Paul College won the toss and we got sent in to bowl. John Paul’s first opening pair batted well for 24 with Aiden and Aaron also bowling well with a few runouts helping us. John Paul’s next pair were the best with 28 off their 4 overs, and Declan and our fill in Aaron G bowled well with one runout from the 4 overs. This bought John Paul to 52 runs off 8 overs. The next two bowling pairs bowled really well with the third batting pair making -9 runs and the fourth batting pair making -19 runs. The last two batting pairs found it hard to score plus we got runouts, which lowered the score. John Paul finished on 24 off their 16.

We opened the batting with Aiden and Declan, both finding their feet with indoor shots compared to outdoor cricket. These two batted well to put on 17, giving us a good foundation for the next batting pairs. Jack and Nick were next to bat and John Paul bowled really tight and fielded really well to keep this pair to -5. Next in was Aaron G and Aaron, who lost a few wickets at the start from runouts but built a steady partnership to finish on 19. We looked to be in trouble at the end of the 15th over when we were around 7 runs behind, but Cal and Dug (the last pair to bat) came together and decided to play smart shots on the side nets. We ended up making 38, winning by 14 runs! It was a really good effort from the lads. We are playing a strong Rosebud team next week so it should be an interesting and hard game!
